Immersive experiences seem to be the prevailing trend as we move forward into 2022. Technology like VR and interactive attractions that place visitors in fully themed environments comprise many new and exciting features on which waterparks and theme parks are now focusing. These new elements aim to transport their visitors to a different world altogether.
VR (Virtual Reality) has been slowly gaining traction in the waterpark industry over the past few years, but COVID has accelerated the acceptance of technology-based attractions. Business-driven upgrades like contactless bookings and payments have given way to attraction-based technology upgrades that the amusement industry has long resisted.
The technology of Virtual Reality has also improved due to its rise in demand. Hardware has upgraded, becoming much more comfortable to wear and with components able to withstand environments like waterparks. New software now produces smooth, high-quality immersive imagery that enchants users instantly. In seconds, a once typical pool transforms into a sparkling tropical reef or deep-sea shipwreck for visitors to explore. This versatility creates a myriad of experiences on a previously singular attraction.
This trend doesn't come as a huge surprise considering the challenges of a post-pandemic world. We have continued to struggle with being isolated from the world at large for the past two years. So how better to reenter reality than by remaining a step removed?
Water parks and theme parks have long been places to adventure, explore, and take risks one typically wouldn't take. Enhancing the experience with new technology like VR or immersing visitors in fully themed attractions means that people participate in even more captivating experiences. That escape from the harsh reality of daily life keeps visitors clamoring to return for more.
We are excited to see where this trend will take park experiences next. Surely this advanced technology and its use in entertainment will mean compelling new ways for visitors to participate at water parks and theme parks. However, no matter where this trend leads, the need for safety will always prevail, and InCord will continue to provide much-needed safety systems like barrier nets and custom fencing to keep visitors safe while partaking in these new and exciting trends.
