From Orchestra Pit Nets to Catwalk Safety Systems, Trap Door Nets, and more, Joe is the guy to ask all about how to keep patrons and performers safe during your theatrical production whether on Broadway or in your local High School.
Joe Menhart
As Sales Manager for BayNets Division and Theatre Division, Joe serves as a liaison between customers, distributors, and InCord engineers and production crews by supporting needs for safety netting solutions and services. How long have you been with InCord? 7 Years
What’s the best advice you can give to someone who just started their career?
Do something you would enjoy even if you were not getting paid. Keep your focus on faith, family and friends.
What has your experience been with InCord company culture?
My experience at InCord has been extremely joyful. Everyone has genuine care for their job and their coworkers. Love comes from the owners and senior management team that spreads throughout the entire company. Everyone feels it and shares it.
What parts of our mission do you connect with?
At InCord we provide safety solutions that save lives. I’m energized and motivated by knowing that my service to a customer is to provide a life-saving product. Throughout my life, I have been involved with other organizations that also protect life. I have been a hospice volunteer at Middlesex Hospital, an avid supporter of the Haitian Health Foundation, and have even won an award for my fundraising efforts with Care Net Pregnancy Resource Center. At InCord, I sincerely feel like I’m on a mission from God.
Recommend a book (or three!) you have recently read.
I try to read one book a month. This is how I started 2022, all great books:
1: Talking to Strangers – What We Should Know About the People We Don’t Know, by Malcolm Gladwell.
2: Subtract – The Untapped Science of Less, by Leidy Klotz.
3: The Stranger in the Lifeboat, by Mitch Albom.
What was your first job?
My first job after graduating college was as a manager trainee for Ground Round Restaurants. I enjoyed eating and cooking far more than working double shifts, weekends and holidays. That early career didn’t last but my love for eating and cooking was made to live long and prosper.
What is your ‘happy place’? Cape Cod in the summer with family and friends.
How do you like to spend your time when you aren’t working?
Gardening, biking, walking, and grandparenting. I also enjoy bird feeding, mini-golf, and table games. My new favorite game is Wingspan. It’s a competitive engine-building board game designed for you to collect birds in different habitats.
What is one thing about you that would surprise people?
I was President of the Sky Diving Club at Bryant College and even jumped out of a plane once. And many nights were spent volunteering as a DJ at the college radio station.
InCord is certainly lucky to have such a hard-working and dedicated Sales Manager in Joe. He truly cares deeply about his customers, his business partners, and his fellow InCord crew members.
Joe lives with his wife, Donna, in Hartford, CT. They have been married 37 years and have three daughters, and two grandchildren. They live within a short walk from the University of Hartford where Donna is Associate Dean and Associate Professor at The Hartt School. Together they enjoy numerous outstanding plays, operas, musicals and concerts at Hartt performed by the stars of tomorrow.
